This is Hudson, 4 year-old son of one of the office directors, dressed in his school uniform one morning. Apparently I dress like a preschooler.
At 3 AM tomorrow, I leave my home in rain-soaked Mussoorie to spend a little over 3 weeks in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. From New Delhi, I'll be taking a 28-hour train ride to Chennai (see map) with Graham (Hudson's dad) and Mark & Cara (married architects, fellow interns). The 3 projects that I'm working on are all within a few hours of Chennai, so we'll mostly be traveling by car from there. I'll be in the city of Arrakonam for about a week and a half, helping with the preliminary design of a school for rural kids in that area. From there, I'll head back to Chennai, bum around there for a couple days by myself after the rest of the team leaves, and meet up with Matthew & Ivy (office director & wife) for the other 2 projects. The rest of my time down south will be split between a ministry retreat center in Tiruppur and a ministry in Vellore that provides housing and education to marginalized children. [You should click on all those links to get a better idea of where I'll be and who we'll be working with.]
So that's the plan, although I'm sure the plan will change along the way. I'm really eager to do a little traveling and to see the various ways that God is working in south India. I'm not sure what the internet situation will be like for the next 3 weeks, but I'll do my best to give some updates along the way. Please keep me in your prayers!
